Three Dallas ISD schools rank among the 2020 Best High Schools in the Top 20 per to US News and World Report.
The School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center took the No. 6 spot, nationwide, while Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School ranked No. 10, making Texas the only state to have two schools secure a spot in the top 10. The School of Science and Engineering (SEM) also housed at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center ranked No. 17.
In Texas, TAG ranks No. 1, while Rangel and SEM hold the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.
The US News survey includes almost 18,000 schools across the country.
While this news is positive overall, some alumni are disappointed scores aren’t higher. TAG was ranked first overall in the nation just five years ago. In 2015, TAG had a four year run of being number one.
At the same time, SEM ranked 5th in the nation. While these numbers are positive overall, we are still down from our best scores just over a graduation class ago.
