School Sick Days

The Dallas ISD Calendar does not normally show Sick Days, but they may need to do so based on local ISD’s who have already opened to COVID19 disaster.

Locally several Collin County ISDs have openedand already are reporting cases of COVID19 in the classroom – both Allen and Prosper. The answer from Prosper ISD is not to shut down, but to notify students in close contact and continue forward.

Tonight is the first of two Teletown Hall events that Dallas ISD is holding to provide information on school re-entry.

Dallas ISD Calendar Requirements

Students are required to be in 90% of classroom sessions taught per Texas Education Agency standards, but there is no clear cut answer on how many sick days are allowable.

In the past, arrangements have been made for students to be out for extended periods of time due to cancer or other conditions. It is unclear why alternative arrangements can not be made for COVID19.
